New Mexico has a new restaurant in town called the Café Mary Jane located at 3600 528 Hwy in Albuquerque. The restaurant opened its doors to the community Feb. 14 and will be making a grander entrance this March.

Monica M’ Danat, co-owner of the Café Mary Jane, as well as a native resident of Los Angeles, Calif., said the restaurant is unique to Albuquerque because of the diversity it will bring to the area, something she claims to miss about living in LA.

“I’m from LA, and there is a lot of multicultural restaurants there,” said M’ Danat. “That’s the only thing that I miss about LA, is the food. I thought that it would be interesting for groups of people to come in and be able to get vegetarian food, and multicultural food all at once.”

The restaurant is approximate 600 sq. ft. It’s tiny, with a big attitude, said M’Danat. It will fit roughly 12-15 people inside the restaurant and even more on the

outdoor patio area.

The pricing is very inexpensive, said M‘ Danat. Everything on the menu is between

$2-$7.  The restaurant also has a above and beyond club that gives away a free lunch to 50 small businesses a month. This will reward 1 person per business for good behavior. outside.

According to M’ Danat, the foundation of the restaurant will be based off of unity and for people to come to terms with the fact that they are all human and have the same blood running through their veins.

“When you’re eating food from a different culture,” said M’ Danat. “All you can think about is the love and the food.”

M’ Danat said she hopes to attract people from different age groups and ethnic backgrounds to her restaurant with the hopes of someday expanding with a mobile Mary Jane truck to provide catering.

Food should taste good, but it should also be healthy, said M’ Danat.

Jordan M’ Danat, daughter of Monica M’ Danat, said the restaurant is unique compared to other restaurants and establishments that sell food and beverages due to the wide variety of food that appeals to a variety of different people.

“It brings a new atmosphere to the food and beverage industry,” said Jordan M’ Danat.  “It also inspires unity through food.”

I’ve stopped by this place a couple of times since it opened and the food is amazing! I like the fact that it isn’t just a mexican or an american food restaurant. It has so much more to offer!

I’ve only been here once, but so far its my favorite. Their coffee is better than starbucks which is too sugary. Also if you’re looking for healthy food they also offer salads with romain lettuce and not iceberg!

Ive been to this restaurant several times and i order the same thing so why venture out of something that I already know I like? well, i’ll tell you why, every time i go into this place, what I order is never prepared the same.
Every since time I order it it is never the same as the time before. That bugs me a little bit, some people who are similar to myself may not approve of this.

I was refered to this site from a beautician that works at the salon next door. SHe told me that she was trying to gather more rating for the Mary Jane cafe. Kind girl. I have nevr tried the food at the restaurant, so I have nothing to say about that, but what I can comment on is the coffee they offer. Im a loyal starbucks fan and I figured I’d give that up for a littlle bit to support a local business. I was pleased with the mocha that I had, but after finding out that they don’t make their own coffee, I won’t be returning for coffee again!
They prepare the coffee in already prepared packets. Hell, if I wanted that, I would have saved some money and made it myself.

I love the fact that there are a variety of different types of foods offered. Not many places are like this, which is why I’ve recommended my friends to try it out. I’m a big fan of supporting local businesses, especially since the cooks are super friendly.

I do have a concern though. I’ve noticed people that don’t work there going into kitchen area. I’m a bit of a germaphobe, so that kind of bothered me. I don’t think that should be allowed in a business that deals with food.

Other than that, the food is great!

I was very happy with the service I recieved. the cooks are super friendly, though one of them kind of creeped me out. He was talking about me in spanish, saying inappropriate things. Hey buddy, next time think before you act! Just because some people don’t look bilingual, doesn’t mean they don’t understand other languages!
