The cold has set in.
Our breaths rise a mere octave.
You know what they want.
We run through the labyrinth.
Our backs against the wall.
No where to run.
Eyes darting left and right, where do we go from here?
They’re coming for us, don’t you see?
Beady little eyes with big gaping teeth.
They scurried above us, watching—
Laughing.
Sneering.
There were others before us.
People like you and I.
None survived.
They’re not going to get us this time.
I promise you.
We’ve ran for miles and more wall we’ve hit.
Our heart within our ears beat to a feverish pitch.
No end in sight and the beasts come to life.
So let there be light.
Poof!
Back to reality.
