It was a tug-of-war in a sense of complacent emotions.

Wanting the approval of the world only to fall to the silence of a war already brewing.

Nothing she did was good enough.

Her peers constantly in her ear filling her thoughts with doubts.

Accomplishments weren’t acknowledged as the whispering grew too difficult to drown.

She and he were never a team, but always he who provided and she who pick up the crumbs.

If he wasn’t there to provide, then she didn’t exist.

Her wants and needs became  mere breaths long forgotten.

She faded into the background going unnoticed and he reaped the rewards.

It couldn’t go on forever this fly against tacky paper.

Paralyzed with nowhere to spread her wings.

She finally sang and the world took a bow.
