Medicine Man

I watched as the powder poured into the glass.

I couldn’t believe how my hands moved so fast.

The scent filled my nostrils and a little voice screamed “don’t do it!”

I stood there perplexed, should I even care what comes next?

My eyes wandered, searching for a sign, some sort of clue on what to do.

The clock read “11:11” and my wish finally came true.

Pouring a cup of chocolate, topped with a splash of milk, I stirred the juice and took a big swig.

The liquid poured down my throat and dropped into the pit of my stomach.

Deep down I knew what I’ve done was wrong, but I didn’t care I needed to feel numb.

My heart practically beat outside my chest and then it came.

The release from all of the pain and for a moment I felt peace.
